The Licensing Specialist observed that supervision of children in the four-year-old classroom group was valid, in that staff did not follow established supervision procedures requiring direct observation and communication when transitioning a child from the playground to the restroom area. This lapse in supervision allowed a child to exit the classroom and move through interior and exterior doors without the immediate awareness of staff. The lack of direct visual supervision and communication between teachers during the transition period resulted in a temporary lapse in child safety and was determined to be noncompliant with childcare supervision standards.
