Correction / follow-up note
Licensing Specialist determined through testimony from one staff member that timeout is utilized as a form of discipline in the 1 year old classroom. The facilitys discipline policy states: Provide renewal time. When a child is too upset to talk or listen, it may be necessary to remove the child from the situation for a period of no more than 2 minutes. The teachers stay with the child to discuss what happened and to help the child regain composure. However, the staff member stated to the Licensing Specialist that she will place the child in a highchair with toys for 5 to 10 minutes and she is with the child the whole time.
