Operation of A Family Child Care Home (g) The home shall be free from defects or conditions which might endanger a child. Safety precautions shall include but not limited to: (4) Poisons, detergents, cleaning compounds, medicines, firearms and other items which could pose a danger if readily available to children shall be stored where they are inaccessible to children. (C) Ammunition shall be stored and locked separately from firearms. This requirement is not met as evidenced by: Based on observation and interview, the licensee did not comply with the section cited above. At the time of the visit, licensee stated firearms and ammunition are locked in a cabinet, stored, and locked separately. LPA is unable to determine if the firearms and ammunition are stored and locked separately, located inside of the locked cabinet, which poses a potential safety risk to persons in care.

Operation of A Family Child Care Home (a) The licensee shall be present in the home and shall ensure that children in care are supervised at all times. When circumstances require the licensee to be temporarily absent from the home, the licensee shall arrange for a substitute adult to care for and supervise the children during his/her absence. Temporary absences shall not exceed 20 percent of the hours that the facility is providing care per day. This requirement is not met as evidenced by: Based on observation, interview, record review, the licensee did not comply with the section cited above. LPA did not observe S2 present during the time of the visit, and by the licensee's own omission, S2 absences will exceed 20 percent of the hours the facility is providing care, multiple days this week, which poses a potential safety risk to persons in care.
